Tehran (IP) – Iran's foreign minister said ending the presence of US forces in the region would be the best response to the terrorist act of assassinating resistance commanders.

Iran Press/Iran News: Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, who is in Tehran at the head of a delegation, and the latest developments in bilateral relations and regional and international issues were discussed.

Zarif appreciated the judicial process of pursuing the assassination case of commanders Lt. Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis by the Iraqi people and government.

He expressed hope that the perpetrators of this criminal act would be punished through legal proceedings.

He stated that ending the presence of US forces in the region would be the best response to this terrorist act.

He expressed satisfaction with the holding of a joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries and expressed hope that the agreements reached by the Iranian President on his visit to Iraq in various bilateral areas regarding industrial estates, border markets, trade, pilgrimage, transportation of goods, and banking issues would be concluded as soon as possible.

Fouad Hussein also considered the visits of the two countries' delegations as a sign of the two sides' interest in relations and explained the views of the Iraqi side.

He emphasized the special attention of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kazemi, to pursuing and organizing Iran-Iraq relations.
