Tehran (IP) - The spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that in the past 24 hours 82 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives which means a sharp decline in Iran’s death toll record.

Iran Press/Iran News: According to the statistics from yesterday to January 6, 2021, 1,261,903 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, and 1,040,521 of the total infected people recovered, Sima Sadat Lari stated. 

According to Lari, newly diagnosed patients with COVID-19 reached 6,283 cases, out of whom 603 patients were hospitalized.

She added that in the past 24 hours, 82 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 55,830.4,780 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition in Iran.

So far, 7,939,633 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted across the country, the Health Ministry spokeswoman noted.

"Based on the latest statistics, the cities of Sari, Amol, Ramsar, and northern Savadkuh in northern Iran are regarded as red zones, 43 cities as orange zones, and 401 cities as yellow zones," Lari said. 101
