The administration of US President Donald Trump is facing a legal challenge due to the haste in selling weapons to the UAE.

Iran PressAmerica: The New York-based Foreign Policy Center has decided to sue the US stated Department and the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the Independent reported on Tuesday night.

On December 30, the center wrote in a complaint to the Colombian District Court that the sale of weapons to the UAE "did not meet the most basic legal requirements" and should be declared "invalid."

Trump administration announced to Congress on November 10 that it had agreed to sell weapons manufactured by General Atomics, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon to the UAE.

The deal includes the sale of 50 F-35 fighter jets and more than 14 kinds of bombs and other ammunition to the UAE, valued at $ 23 billion.

The White House claimed that the agreement directly supports US foreign policy and national security.

Critics say the sale of these weapons is fueling an arms race in the Middle East and could be used in the wars in Libya and Yemen.

The UAE has been heavily criticized for its involvement in the invasion of Yemen.
