Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of the Presiding Board of the Parliament said on Saturday that the presidential election law is reasonable, and none of the presidential contesters will be halted from running for the presidency.

Iran PressIran News: In an interview with Iran Press on various political groups' reactions to the amendment of the election law in the parliament, Mohammad-Hossein Farhangi stated: "There were limitations at the time of the approval of the plan as a whole, which were resolved when approved in the open session of the parliament."

The spokesman of the Presiding Board of the Parliament stressed that the Guardian Council will comment on the final draft of the law amending the presidential election, adding his personal anticipation is that the Guardian Council would not approve some of the enacted articles to be in accordance with the constitution.

"Some political currents that have not been properly managed in recent years have waged psychological war by accusing members of parliament to manipulate public opinion, and in particular, accusing some presidential candidates," Farhangi highlighted.

"The Presidential Election Law amendment does not facilitate presidential candidates' removal or the presence of political currents; it just emphasizes that a person who has 4 years of senior management experience should be nominated for the presidency," he stated.

"In Iran's previous presidential election, people with no managerial background had registered as a candidate and when all were eliminated, it had a negative impact on public opinion inside and outside the country," spokesman of the Presiding Board of the Parliament noted.

"Management at the national level is quite different from that of the City Council to run for the presidency; therefore, a presidential candidate must be the one who can exercise his management in all spheres," Mohammad-Hossein Farhangi underlined.

Farhangi stressed that the accusations against the MPs regarding the amendment of the presidential election law are a psychological war, and some elements with political intentions propagate their unrealistic ideas.
