Iran Press/Africa: The USS Africa Hershel Woody Williams has launched a naval operation off the coast of Somalia on Saturday morning, the US military says.
The purpose of the operation is to move US troops from Somalia to other African countries, according to the US military in Africa.
The US military has sent 700 troops to Somalia under the pretext of fighting the al-Shabaab terrorist group, but US President Donald Trump recently ordered a significant reduction in US troops in various countries.
The withdrawal of US troops from Somalia comes as parliamentary and presidential elections are set to take place in the next few days. 219
