A US military convoy of dozens of armored vehicles and tanks entered Iraq from Syria.

Iran Press/Middle East: According to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), local sources said that a convoy consisting of at least 50 armored vehicles belonging to the US Army entered Iraq from Syria through the al-Waleed border crossing. The convoy originated in the US military base in Hasakah province.

In recent years, US military convoys carrying weapons and tanks have repeatedly moved between Iraq and Syria.

However, the recent mobilization of US troops is significant because US President Donald Trump recently fired Mark Esper from the Department of Defense and appointed Christopher Miller as Pentagon chief.

Concerns are growing among the US officials about what lies in store next as the president's overhaul of top brass could be setting the nation up for a chaotic transition to the Joe Biden administration.
