Ceremony on White Cane Safety Day held

Tehran (IP) - The ceremony of White Cane Safety Day was held at the State Welfare Organization of Iran with the attendance of the Minister of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare Mohammad Shariatmadari, and the head of the country’s State Welfare Organization, Vahid Ghobadi Dana.

Iran PressIran News: In this ceremony, Shariatmadari noted that one of the issues discussed in this meeting was related to lawmaking and some alternatives that are needed in this regard.

There are some problems in livelihood and supplying equipment for disabled people, which needs to be followed up, the minister added.

30,000 billion Toman is required for the disabled, although the whole amount cannot be supplied, it is tried to get the highest number in the budget in the next six month and next year, he noted.

White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.
