Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a virtual address to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York that Tehran is ready for a full prisoner exchange with Washington.

Iran Press/Iran News: Relations between Tehran and Washington have deteriorated sharply since 2018 when US President Donald Trump exited Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with major powers and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran.

Navy veteran Michael White, prisoned since 2018, returned home in June as part of a deal in which the United States released an Iranian-American physician Majid Taheri to return to Iran, who was detained in the US.

In December 2018, Washington and Tehran worked on a prisoner exchange. Iran freed US citizen Xiyue Wang, who had been imprisoned for three years on spying charges, and the United States freed Iranian Massoud Soleimani, who had been held under allegations of violating US sanctions on Iran.
