Iranian residents of China mourn for Imam Hossein on Ashura eve

The Ashura mourning ceremony of Imam Hossein (AS) was held in Iran's Embassy in Beijing with ambassadors, students, businessmen, and other Iranians living in China in attendance.

Iran Press/Asia: On Saturday night, Tassu'a mourning ceremony was also held in the embassy with the Iranian ambassador Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh and the Iranians living at the embassy in attendance.

Iran's Cultural Attaché in China, Abbasali Vafai, also said in a speech: "Imam Hussein (AS) is the heir of the divine prophets and getting to know about this status leads one to a better understanding about the Ashura uprising."

Shia Muslims mourn the first 10-day of Muharram month in commemoration of the third Shi'a Imam.

Tassu'a and Ashura are the 9th and 10th days of Muharram, in which people mourn and commemorate Hazrat Abulfazl and Imam Hussain (AS).

Today, Sunday (August 30, 2020), the tenth day of Muharram 1442 AH, is the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shi'a Muslims, who was martyred on the 10th of Muharram in the year 61 AH in Karbala at the age of 57.

Imam Hussain (AS) was a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and was martyred along with 72 of his family members and companions in 680 A.D. in a land that is known today as Iraq, after they refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant of the time, Yazid.

The Battle of Karbala between a small group of supporters and relatives of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and a larger military detachment from the forces of the caliph represents a war between good and evil.
