Tehran (IP) - Iran and Russia are considered as two main powers in the region, former Iran's ambassador to Russia Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi said.

Iran Press/Iran News: On the sideline of a meeting held at the International Association of Muslim University Professors, attended by some Iranian and Russian diplomats, to discuss strategic relations between Iran and Russia and expand the cooperation between the two countries, Sajjadi in an exclusive interview with Iran Press elaborated on the importance of cooperation between Iran and Russia.

He went on to say that if two countries have proper cooperation, like the case in Syria, no foreign power can disturb the region.

The most important achievement of this cooperation is having no foreigner in the region, plus limiting "terrorism" and "extremism", he added.

This cooperation can also prevent the development of drugs in Iran, Russia, and Pakistan too, he noted.

Regarding economic cooperation, Sajjadi said that both countries suffer from the wrong sanctions imposed by the US and their cooperation can solve most of the problems in this regard.
