The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Abbas Mousavi stressed that Iran hopes that the Syrian parliamentary elections will be a positive step towards peace, stability, and progress and alleviate the suffering of the people.

Iran PressIran News: Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, while expressing the satisfaction of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the successful holding of the Syrian parliamentary elections, said, "These elections will be held in a situation where the Syrian people have suffered a lot due to the conflict and the destruction caused by the actions of the terrorist groups, the presence of the foreign occupying forces and the oppressive unilateral sanctions.

The third round of parliamentary elections in Syria after the amendment of the country's constitution was held on Sunday morning in 14 provinces and in 7,400 polling stations to elect 250 members of the Syrian parliament.

Despite the crisis of the last 10 years in Syria and the occupation of large parts of the country in the last decade, six elections have been held so far, including three parliamentary elections, two local and city council elections (2011 and 2018) and one presidential election.
