avad Torkabadi, Iranian ambassador to Syria

The Iranian ambassador to Syria said Iran continues to support Syria in countering the West's sanctions, providing its needs in the field of oil derivatives.

Iran PressMiddle East: Javad Torkabadi pointed to Syria's urgent need to the oil derivatives which are sanctioned by the US under the so-called 'Caesar Act' and stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully ready to meet Syria's oil and energy needs.

Condemning the sanctions through which the US intends to compensate its failures in Syria, Torkabadi said: "God willing, we will all celebrate the victory of Syria".

The US Congress passed Caesar Law in 2019 and enforced it since the beginning of June.

The US sanctions against Syria in the form of the so-called 'Caesar Act' targeted 39 Syrian officials and figures including Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife.

Under Caesar Act, the US seeks to impose severe sanctions on Syria's institutions and individuals to prevent Syria and its allies from cooperating in reconstructing the country.
