Mashhad (IP) - The Holy Shrine of 8th Shi'a Imam, Imam Reza (PBUH) in Mashhad, the capital of Razavi Khorasan North-Eastern Iran has been decorated on the occasion of the birth of Imam Reza (PBUH).

Iran Press/Iran News: All the courtyards of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH) have been lit and the celebrations of the "Dahe- Keramat" (Decade of munificence ) are held every day from morning to night, observing health protocols and social distancing.

"Dahe- Keramat" (Decade of munificence) refers to the first decade of the month of Dhu al-Qi'dah, which begins with the birth of Hazrat Ma’soumeh (SA) on the 1st of Dhu al-Qi'dah and ends with the birth of her brother Imam Reza (PBUH) on the 11th of Dhu al-Qi'dah.

Imam Ali bin Mousa al-Reza (PBUH), the eighth Imam of Shiites, is of the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his eighth successor.

The shrine of Ali bin Mousa al-Reza is visited by nearly 30 million people annually turning Mashhad into one of the biggest pilgrimage destinations in the world and the holiest spot in Iran.

With the outbreak of the coronavirus, the courtyards of the holy shrine are disinfected twice a day, and when pilgrims enter the holy shrine of Imam Reza (PBUH), they are given masks.

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the situation in the city of Mashhad is still red, and according to the decision of the National Taskforce for Combating Corona, new restrictions will be imposed in Mashhad from next Saturday. 101
