Iran Press/Iran News: In response to remarks by US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, his divisive mission to countries in the region and his threats against Iran, Seyed Abbas Mousavi Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman dismissed Hook's nonsense, baseless statements and strongly condemned it.
Mousavi added: "Hook is talking about a military option against Iran at the same time as he is desperately trying to justify the issue of arms embargoes." An expired option that has been on the table of delusional US presidents for years.
He went on to say: "The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the military sector is quite clear and the nature of these programs are defensive."
"The real threat to the region is the destructive and destabilizing presence of the United States, turning the region into a military base and preventing the region from progressing and developing due to divisiveness and intimidation which is in order to facilitate the easy sale of US military products," he said.
The Iranian official added that Hook has been negotiating on Iran's arms embargo, while his country and some of its allies have had hundreds of nuclear bombs and other weapons of mass destruction; at the same time, they have no cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international institutions, in addition, the IAEA has no control over their nuclear facilities.
Mousavi further said: "Worse than that, the United States has turned the region into a gunpowder depot by selling advanced weapons and equipment to the region's countries which many of these weapons are still being used against the oppressed and helpless people of Yemen, Palestine, Iraq, Syria and other nations in the region."
In the end, the spokesman of Iran's Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasized that establishing the security of the region by the countries of the region is the principled and stable policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
