Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser al-Sabah arrived Sunday in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on an official visit, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Iraqi compensation file and the postponement of its payment will be at the heart of the talks," media outlets in Iraq said.

The visit to Iraq is the first by a high-profile Gulf official since the formation of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadzemi's government on May 7.

Last month, Iraqi lawmaker Hanin Qaddo told that Baghdad had asked Kuwait to postpone the payment of $ 3.7 billion, the remaining compensation for the Persian Gulf War.

In 1991, the UN obliged Baghdad to pay $52.4 billion in compensation to individuals, companies, governmental organizations, and others who incurred losses resulting from the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

Iraq has paid $48.7 billion so far, according to the UN.
