The European Union has expressed its deep concern over the Zionist regime's plan to annex areas along the Jordan River to occupied Palestine.

Iran Press/Europe: EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Israeli War Minister Benny Gantz on Thursday.

Borrell said the union believes that negotiations should be resumed to resolve issues between the Palestinians and the Zionist regime.

Borrell reiterated the EU's commitment to a two-state solution based on internationally accepted principles.

Israel will not miss a “historic opportunity” to extend its sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, Isreal’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed recently, calling the move one of his new government’s top tasks.

The comments came amid recent action by Palestinian officials to end to security cooperation with Israel and its ally, the United States.

Netanyahu has pledged to put settlements and the Jordan Valley in the Occupied West Bank under Israeli sovereignty. He has set July 1 as a starting date for cabinet discussions on the issue, which has also raised alarm within the European Union, according to Reuters.

The Zionist Regime is going to occupy and annex parts of the West Bank to the territories that have been occupied in Palestine.

The annexation encompasses over 30 percent of the West Bank. The United States said it was ready to recognize Israel's annexation of much of the occupied West Bank.
