Russia ambassador to Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov

Russia's top diplomat in Vienna has said that the US ending Iran's nuclear waiver is an NPT violation.

Iran PressEurope: Russia's ambassador to Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, tweeted on Friday morning that illegal US sanctions against these projects would mean further violations of the UN Charter (Article 25), Security Council Resolution 2231. The United States continues to undermine the non-proliferation regime.

He had previously written in another message that the United States was at the same time insisting that Iran had only commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but that it would not allow peaceful use of nuclear energy, despite Article 4 of the treaty.

He added: "This is not just a policy of double standards, but a false attempt against the non-proliferation."

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that his country was lifting sanctions exemptions related to the UN Security Council and that it was suspending two Iranians in connection with its nuclear program.

Iran and the Great Powers reached a historic agreement in July 2015 (July / August 2015) that in the face of the lifting of sanctions, Iran would limit its nuclear activities and suspend some, but in May 2018 (Ordibehesht 1397) Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and re-imposed sanctions.
