Israel will not miss a “historic opportunity” to extend its sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, Isreal’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Monday, calling the move one of his new government’s top tasks.

Iran Press/Middle East: The comments came amid recent action by Palestinian officials to end to security cooperation with Israel and its ally, the United States.

Netanyahu has pledged to put settlements and the Jordan Valley in the Occupied West Bank under Israeli sovereignty. He has set July 1 as a starting date for cabinet discussions on the issue, which has also raised alarm within the European Union, according to Reuters.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called the matter complex and said it required coordination with Washington.

“It is a big opportunity and we will not let it pass by,” he said a day after the start of his corruption trial. He denies charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.

The Zionist Regime is going to occupy and annex parts of the West Bank to the territories that have been occupied in Palestine.

The annexation encompasses over 30 percent of the West Bank. The United States said it was ready to recognize Israel's annexation of much of the occupied West Bank.
