Iran Foreign Ministry : New generation to confront US terrorism as it did about Saddam

Tehran (IP) - "The martyrdom of hundreds of innocent civilians and the destruction of Dezful with 176 missiles, 2,500 artillery shells, and 331 rockets were only part of the crimes of Saddam, the extinct Iraqi dictator in the city," The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement read.

Iran PressIran News: On Sunday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a Twitter message on the occasion of Dezful Resistance Day, referring to the strengthening of Iran's defense power during the eight years of the Iraq-Iran war, saying "Iran's new generation is determined to repeat the same experience while confronting US terrorism."

May 24 (Khordad 4) in the calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran is named as the Day of Resistance of Dezful.

The Resistant city of Dezful, Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran, was repeatedly attacked by the Ba'athist enemy during the eight-year Iraq-Iran war.

With the advent of the Iran-Iraq War, Dezful was attacked more than 160 times by the Iraqi missiles. On 22 September 1980, Iraqi aircrafts attacked the Iranian air force bases on the first day of the war.

Then Iraqi forces repeatedly attacked Dezful with bombs and missiles. Dezful was known as “Baladossavarikh” (Missiles’ City) among Persian Gulf countries. After the war, the city was selected as the exemplar city for its resistance against the attacks. Dezful donated 2600 martyrs in the imposed war.
