American scientist fired over \\\'refusing to manipulate COVID-19 data

A scientist who created a dashboard for monitoring Florida's rising number of COVID-19 cases said she's been fired for refusing to manipulate the data.

Iran PressAmerica: The scientist who created Florida's COVID-19 data portal wasn't just removed from her position on May 5, she was fired on Monday by the Department of Health, she said, for refusing to manipulate data.

Rebekah Jones says she's been fired from the state Health Department. In a statement to CBS-12 in West Palm Beach, Jones said her dismissal came after she refused to "manually change data to drum up support for the plan to reopen."

In particular, Jones reportedly balked at removing data that showed Florida residents reported coronavirus symptoms before cases were officially announced, according to internal emails obtained by the local media Tampa Bay Times.

Jones's removal from the project and her subsequent dismissal raises questions about the impartiality and transparency of Florida's COVID-19 Dashboard.
