Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry's senior aide for political affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, and the Syrian ambassador to Tehran met on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in Syria and relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/Iran news: Ali Asghar Khaji, in a meeting with the Syrian Ambassador to Iran Adnan Hassan Mahmoud, stressing Iran's strong support for Syria in the fight against terrorism, added: "The continuing joint activities and cooperation among Iran, Russia, and Turkey in the framework of the Astana process are very important." 

Referring to the continuation of US unilateral sanctions against the Syrian people in the difficult conditions of the crisis and the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Khaji also called the international community to support the Syrian people, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity in the framework of international law and the fight against terrorism.

The Syrian ambassador to Iran, for his part, stressed the importance of continuing consultations between Tehran and Damascus at the bilateral and regional levels. 101/207
