Russia's Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna has said that the US officials were paying their dues under UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2231, but did not mention their commitments.

Iran PressEurope: In a tweet released on early Saturday, Mikhail Ulyanov said: "US officials claim that the US retains the rights under UNSC resolution 2231. No single word about US obligations which come together with rights."

Russia's Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna particularly referred to the paragraph 2 of UNSCR 2231, adding: "What about refraining from actions that undermine implementation of commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)?"

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to invoke a provision in the Iran nuclear agreement, which the Trump administration pulled out of in 2018, in an effort to either extend an arms embargo on Iran or reimpose even harsher UN sanctions, the New York Times reported on Sunday.

The United Nations UN Security Council added arms embargo on Iran in 2006 and 2007, which is supposed to be lifted on 18 October 2020, five years after the JCPOA adoption day.
