Tehran (IP) - Tehran (IP) - Iranian Deputy Health Minister said that the country has reached a downward trend in the rate of COVID-19 infections due to the implementation of social distancing program, reducing traffic congestion, as well as the closures of educational departments.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking in a live video presser held at Health Ministry on April 29, Qasem Jan-Babaei said: "Statistics have shown that men, who have been more active in the job market, are more likely to be affected by the coronavirus than women."

He noted that over 130 diagnostic laboratories for testing coronavirus are active in the country, and the test results are announced daily.

"Now we have defined two codes for each patient, one is the code of people whose test results are positive and the second is the code for patients whose test results are negative but have symptoms and are registered as suspicious and probable patients affected by the coronavirus," Qasem Jan-Babaei added.

Deputy Minister of Health stressed that the country has reached a downward trend in the rate of infections from March 15, 2020, adding, "Closures of schools and universities, as well as traffic reduction and implementation of social distancing program, have led to a declining trend in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country."

"Sampling and testing have increased in the country and positive tests may have increased, but the process of hospitalization of patients is declining," he stressed.

Referring to Plasma therapy as a potentially promising treatment to help people infected with the coronavirus, Deputy Minister of Health said: "Iran has the largest plasma therapy study project in the world."

He also explained that Plasma treatment has been done on 60 patients in the country at its first stage, and the Ministry of Health would announce the results.
