Deputy FM: Anti-COVID-19-campaign requires serious and universal effort

Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araghchi in the telephone conversation with Political Director of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thijs van der Plas discussed the different issues including the bilateral ties as wells the international relations.

Iran PressIran News: "Today, the coronavirus has spread not only in Iran but in almost all countries, and dealing with it requires a serious effort and collective move," Araqchi said.

Referring to the fact that Today, in addition to combating the virus, Iran is facing illegal and inhumane US sanctions, doubling the pressure on the Iranian people, Araghchi highlighted that It is the right of the Iranian people to have access to their financial resources to fight the disease and counter its economic consequences.

"US unilateral and cruel sanctions against Iran are a clear violation of Security Council Resolution 2231, and the United States must, therefore, be held accountable by the international community," Iran’s top diplomat added.

For his part, the Dutch official expressed his sympathy with the Iranian people and said that it is a global duty to fight Corona disease.

He stressed his country's commitment to multilateralist approach in the global arena as well as helping international institutions ensure health and well-being, adding that the Netherlands continues to support the Joint  Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and related mechanisms.
