US residents calling for an immediate lifting of the sanctions on Iran

American people have launched a campaign against US sanctions against Iran urging the US Treasury Department to lift sanctions when Iran is exposed to a critical humanitarian situation with alarming death tolls caused by the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Iran Press/America: The campaign entitled "80 hrs of calls for 80 million lives" has set 80 hours in the name of 80 million Iranians during which US citizens can call the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to demand that they lift sanctions on Iran.

The initiators of the campaign issued a statement saying that if US sanctions were not lifted, Iran would face human tragedy.

In the same week that China and the UK called on the US to lift sanctions on Iran over concerns about the outbreak of COVID-19 the US President imposed new sanctions on the country, the statement said.

Campaigners stress that the US should lift sanctions for at least 120 days or Iran will face a disastrous tragedy.

Some Twitter users mentioned US Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin and some Congresspersons with the hashtag #ENDCOVIDSANCTIONS.

"The economic war has endangered the lives of 80 million Iranians. An Iranian dies due to COVID-19 every 10 minutes. End this terrorism. Save the lives."

Furthermore, an unconfirmed report had said on Tuesday the US Treasury is to release within the next 24 hours a list of anti-Iran sanctions that will be suspended to show what is described as Washington’s determination to help Iran’s battle against COVID-19.
