The leaders of Iraqi Shia factions declared their opposition to giving a mission to Adnan al-Zarfi to form a transitional government to President Barham Salih.

Iran Press/Middle East: The leaders of Iraqi Shia factions including Hadi al-Ameri, Ammar al-Hakim, Nouri al-Maleki, Fali al-Fayadh as well as the representatives of Sadiqoon faction, after hours of discussion, decided to not accept al-Zarfi's mission to form a new cabinet.

At the end of their session, these factions sent a letter to the president and declared that they do not accept al-Zarfi as the Prime Minister and responsible to form the new government and that the president should choose another option as the Prime Minister.

The spokesman for the Law Government coalition led by the former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki announced on Thursday that so far out of 329 lawmakers 170 oppose assigning al-Zarfi to form the government, believing that Barham Salih has ignored the Law and has entered the country in a political crisis.

Adnan al-Zurufi, a member of the al-Nasr faction, led by Haider al-Abadi (former prime minister), is a controversial Iraqi figure, who has been missioned by the president to form a transitional government on Tuesday.
