Ali Bagheri Kani in a meeting with the UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet

Tehran (IP) - Deputy of International Affairs of the Judicial System of Iran and Secretary of High Council for Human Rights said that the US has tried to halt the Iranian nation’s progress since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, but they have progressed relying on their domestic capacity, so Washington has tried to punish the Iranian people with brutal sanctions.

Iran PressIran News: Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks at a Wednesday meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, saying that since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the US has tried to prevent the Iranian nation from accessing critical technologies and deprive the Iranian nation of the "right to progress".

“Despite American opposition, the confidence of the Iranian people has led to prosperity, relying on their domestic capacity,” Iran’s Secretary of High Council for Human Rights added.

“For this reason, the US has punished the Iranian people with brutal sanctions,” he said.

Also pointing out to the countries claiming human rights violations in Iran, Bagheri Kani said: "Europe, which advocates an anti-Iran human rights resolution at the UN Human Rights Council, is on the one hand, assisting Saudi Arabia in killing Yemeni children, and on the other hand, preventing medicine exports to Iran partnering the US in killing innocent Iranian children.

The Iranian official went on to say that the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran are based on the protection of human rights and also providing the rights of the Iranian people.

Michelle Bachelet, for his part, said that the politicization of human rights is a sad fact that no one can conceal.

The US continues to exert pressure on the Iranian people and deprive Iran of ways of paying the cost of medicine and limit the use of available financial resources.
