Tehran (IP) - Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the participation of all Iranians in the upcoming parliamentary elections is crucial because the country is in a critical condition due to the sanctions.

Iran Press/Iran news: The president called for a massive public turnout and said, "People need to consider a few things; voting is crucial in order to choose the best. The Parliament is important because it is the parliamentarians who give a vote of confidence or impeach ministers. The parliament is an important body in Iran because of the importance that late Imam Khomeini attached to it."

He added, "Some of the laws passed by parliament have been in place for many years, and we have to run for parliament for our fate and future."

Rouhani pointed out, "We are facing significant sanctions and intense pressure from global arrogance, and we need to break the sanctions and make people's lives easier. It is necessary to change many structures in the current situation. The government is not able to do it by itself and the parliament should work alongside the government. Thus parliamentary elections are important."

"If sanctions are to be lifted and if production and manufacturing are to be increased, and if self-sufficiency is to be achieved in various areas, then we must take part in the upcoming elections," the president added.

On Friday 21st February, the Iranian people with a huge turnout in the eleventh round of parliamentary elections will choose their representatives and send them to the national parliament (the Majlis).
