Algeria's Foreign Minister on Thursday urged Arab countries to work for Syria's return to the Arab League.

Iran Press/Africa: Sabri Boukadoum emphasized that the absence of Syria in the Arab League is a major blow to the League and the Arab states, stating that Arab countries should strive for Syria's return to the Arab League.

The Arab League suspended Syria's membership in 2011 under pressure from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in the wake of the Syrian crisis.
Most Arab countries also severed diplomatic ties with Damascus by closing their embassies.

Following the victory of Syrian legitimate government over terrorists and the defeat of the Arab-Western conspiracy in the country, the Arab League and many Arab countries and the region are struggling to resume relations and reopen their embassies in Damascus.

The crisis in Syria began in 2011 with the widespread aggression of terrorist groups backed by Saudi Arabia, the US and their allies to change the region's equations in favor of the Zionist regime.

The Syrian military has recently been able to defeat the ISIL terrorist group in the country with the help of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russian support.
