Turkish official: Israeli-US plan is for the continuation of occupation

The spokesman for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party called the US 'Deal of the Century' a plan in line with the Israeli regime's occupation of Palestine.

Iran Press/Asia: Turkish official Ömer Çelik said in response to the deal that the plan is not a peace deal but an occupation plot that does not contribute to peace in the region.

The Turkish spokesman noted that the Palestinian people's legitimate demands were ignored in the US so-called 'Deal of the Century' plan, stressing the only way to form a Palestinian constitutional government would be through the UN resolutions and fulfilling legitimate demands of the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Ali Arbash, head of Turkey's Religious Affairs Organization, also opposed the US plan against the Palestinian nation, saying, "A reckless attitude is trying to make the al-Quds city the capital of the Zionist regime, but let everyone know that the holy city is the eternal capital of Palestine."

US President on Tuesday 28 January unveiled the Zionist plan of the Deal of the Century in a unilateral manner ignoring Palestinians' demands, the US-Israeli plan is faced international condemnation.

Turkey's protest to the US-Israeli plan is considerable. On the one hand, Turkey as a majority Muslim country and member of the Muslim world, must resist the so-called plan and stick to common legacy of the Muslim nations instead, on the other hand, it must revise its foreign ties with the Israeli regime, yet Tukey has still preserved its business and trade ties with the Israeli regime.

According to the latest statistics, Turkey and the Zionist regime had more than $ 4 million in trade with each other in 2015. Although this showed about $ 1.5 million in 2019, it does indicate that Turkey is not interested in cutting ties with the Zionist regime.

Therefore, as long as the Muslim countries engage in ties with the Israeli regime, they could not be expected to put the Palestinians' cause on their priority; a cause already marginalized by such Arab states as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Bahrain.
