Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Minister of Petroleum said Iran's Petropars was developing Phase 11 project of South Pars gas field as CNPC International and Total companies had fully abandoned the project.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking on Saturday in a joint meeting with the university professors and the heads of the universities involved in the oil industry projects, Bijan Zangeneh said that the development of the first phase of the project was entirely left to Petropars as its initial partners, China’s CNPCI and France’s Total, pulled out of the project.

“Petropars has started developing the project and is currently sealing contracts for correcting jackets and provision of main items for drilling operations,” he added.

"The meeting holds to address the challenges facing these projects, so I urge university professors to express their concerns explicitly in order to address them," said Zanganeh.

Zanganeh called the reason behind the event to be informed about the problems and challenges of the projects. He further called the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) as the most important topic in oil-based researches.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum also highlighted that during the past 21 years, the country's achievements have been eye-catching and the specialized manpower has been educated and trained in the field.

He also expressed hope that the second phase of such a scientific leap would be followed through the improvement and development of the upstream oil technologies with the participation of Iran's universities.
