Domestic-made Zafar satellite unveiled

Tehran (IP)- Domestic-made satellite 'Zafar' was unveiled on Sunday at Iran University of Science and Technology with the head of Iran's Space Agency, and officials of Iran's ministries of communications and defense in attendance.

Iran Press/Iran News: Ordered by the Iranian Space Agency, the engineering specimen of 'Zafar' national satellite was designed and constructed, and is due to be placed in Earth's orbit.

The head of the Space research department of Iran University of Science and Technology, Hossein Sarbolandi said that Zafar Remote-Sensing Satellite can stay in Earth's orbit at least for 1 year and a half and can do is the mission of photography and storing the information.

Preparing the land Use map, Urban growth monitoring mapping, together with other activities are listed among Zafar Satellite missions.

Zafar satellite equipped with color cameras and can be used for surveying oil reserves, mines, jungles, investigation of saline and alkali soils, plant diseases and pests, and natural disasters.

The satellite will orbit the earth at an altitude of 530 kilometers.
