International law terms British Amb as Persona non Grata: Judiciary Spox

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Judiciary spokesman said on his presser that It is unacceptable for the British ambassador to the Islamic Republic to take part in an illegal gathering. In international law, such elements are considered as a Persona non Grata.

Iran Press/ Iran news Iran's Judiciary spokesman in his weekly press conference, Gholam Hossein Esmaeili referred to the illegal presence of the British ambassador to Tehran in an illegal gathering while taking photos and shooting video images, saying, "It is unacceptable for the British ambassador to the Islamic Republic to take part in an illegal gathering. In international law, such elements are considered as a Persona non Grata."

"Whether he is a diplomat or a non-diplomat, both international law and people bound him to be expelled, though the Foreign Ministry and the Government of the Islamic Republic are responsible in this regard. Article 9 of the Vienna Convention stipulates that observance of the domestic laws of each state is essential for diplomats," he said.

Referring to the US and British government interventionist statements about the crash accident of the Ukrainian plane, he said, "Victims of the Ukrainian Airlines accident were from us, our family, our compatriots, and from these people and the country, and some were guests of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We are deeply saddened by the tragedy, the United States and Britain are ill-wishers, not benevolent. They want to take revenge. We know these are not sympathetic to Iran and Iranians. These are the people who prevented even the international institutions to help the flood-hit Iranians during the flood of April 2019. If they liked Iran and Iranians, they would not have done these criminal acts."

Iran's Judiciary Spokesman Gholam Hossein Esmaeili also said that the General Staff of the Armed Forces has set up specialized committees and reviewed the dimensions of the accident that had not yet been completed.

Esmaeili added, "Special order issued by the Judicial Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces to review the matter from a judicial point of view with the use of various experts and the expertise, experts of civil aviation organizations and experts of electronic warfare and black box recordings. All aspects of the subject will be reviewed."

"The rights of the victims and their families are guaranteed. Theories about the causes of the accident have been put forward, but we need to weigh all the dimensions to get to the truth," the spokesman went on to say."

"The arrogance, especially the US, Israel, and Britain, are angry at the presence of Iranian people in the political scenes and they are looking for crises in our region and country. Their main plot is through soft war, media and propaganda fanfare," he said.

Elsewhere in the press conference, Esmaeili referred to the unique presence of the people in honor and funeral processions of the late Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his martyred companions, saying, "People's farewell was a manifestation of the power and popular base of the Islamic Republic and the demonstration of the solidarity of all the revolutionary forces against the criminal enemy of American state terrorism."
