Iran's President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Tokyo at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to meet with officials in Japan.

Iran PressAsia: Reinforcing economic ties, solving problems related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), fulfilling all relevant commitments to the 2015 Nuclear Deal, shipping security in the region, deploying Japanese troops in the Middle East, and strengthening bilateral trade relations are among important issues the Iranian president is pursuing in his trip to Japan, Iran Press reported.

The Iranian president is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hours later, one of the goals of which is to ease tensions over a nuclear deal between Iran and the United States, according to a Japanese official.

Japan has repeatedly responded negatively to the US request to join its naval alliance in the Strait of Hormuz and instead plans to send troops along with a warship and patrol aircraft to nearby waters.

The Japanese cabinet will formally review and approve the deployment plan in a week, and Abe is expected to make a detailed statement to Rouhani during the meeting, using the opportunity.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, as the leader of world's second-largest economy, not only has a stronger alliance with the United States, but also has very good and strong friendships with Tehran, and has repeatedly met and discussed with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The two countries have strengthened friendly relations in recent years.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran attended the Kuala Lumpur Summit in Malaysia before traveling to Japan.
