Tehran (IP)- The Managing Director of Iran's Maritime and Port Organization (PMO) Mohammad Rastad said that the development of Iran's ports' capacities is at the agenda of the organization.

Iran Press/Iran News: On the sideline of the National Transportation Day on Tuesday Mohammad Rastad announced that by the end of the country's Sixth Development Plan, the capacity of the ports will increase to 272 million tons from 240 million tons.

He said other projects are on the agenda of the PMO, referring to Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, the third phase of which is being established and is expected to be ended by the end of the current government.

He stressed on the support for the maritime industry and shipping companies by providing them with facilities and financial help.

Rastad noted that supporting the domestic production and, particularly, supplying the port sector's needed equipment, holding the logistics and transportation exhibition as well as introducing the needs to the local producers was the effective approach to create job opportunities.

The commemoration ceremony of the National Transportation Day was held on Tuesday with the participation of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami, governors-general of coastal provinces, and Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Rastad.
