70th anniversary of Geneva Conventions held in Tehran

70th anniversary of signing and approval of the Geneva Conventions was held on Monday in Tehran with the participation of foreign and Iranian guests.

Iran PressIran news: During this anniversary, Deputy Minister and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Seyyed Kazem Sajjadpour referred to the importance of humanitarian actions in the world and West Asia region and said: "The US sanctions and its barriers in sending essential humanitarian aid especially medical equipment are illegal."

Head of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Iran Reto Stocker called for peaceful and multilateral mechanisms in the wars and the implementation of humanitarian rights in hostilities, Iran Press reported.

The Geneva Conventions include four treaties, and three additional protocols, that establish the standards of international law for humanitarian treatment in war.
