Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami

Iran's Minister of Defence has said the insight of the Iranian people is the key to scuppering enemy plans which have been prepared over a period of several years.

Iran Press/Iran news: Referring to the anti-Iran plots and schemes of the enemies, Iran's Defence Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said on Saturday that current events in Iran have demonstrated to the enemies that the Iranian people will never allow foreigners to interfere in the country's internal affairs.

The Defence Minister said the enemies who wanted to add unrest to the already imposed sanctions have totally failed in their plot, thanks to the vigilance by the Iranian people, Iran Press reported.

Referring to the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran is still engaged in an economic war with its enemies Brigadier General Hatami concluded that through resistance one could emerge as the winner on the battlefield.

The government decided on Friday, November 15, 2019, to cut gasoline subsidies to fund schemes for direct help to low-income and middle-income families.

On Saturday, November 16, President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi convened a session of the Supreme Council of Economic Coordination and agreed that all state bodies should fully cooperate to implement the decision.

Following the decision, some cities in Iran have witnessed largely peaceful protests, but there have been instances of violent behaviour by some rioters, such as destruction and burning of some public and private property.
