The first international conference on 'Globalization in Contemporary Asia' began Thursday in Russia's Higher School of Economics in Moscow to discuss the current issues of socio-economic and political development of countries and regions.

Iran Press/Asia: Deputy Minister and Head of the Center for Political Studies at Foreign Ministry Seyed Mohammad Kazem Sajjadpour and Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaiare participated in the conference.

In an interview on the sidelines of the conference, Sajjadpour told reporters that: "Globalization has provided the opportunity for economic communication, but some actors are trying to harm others, especially by abusing international financial institutions and using international issues as weapons. But they seem to be unaware that the world is not a polar one, as different actors have emerged and the situation has changed dramatically."

The goal of this international conference which holds by the attendance of experts, ambassadors and officials from 14 countries including Iran, covers several large regions of Asia, is not just to unite specialists in regional studies and orientalists of HSE, Moscow and Russian regions, but also to create inclusive permanent expert platform based in the Higher School of Economics for the development of a new format of Russian oriental and regional studies.

It is planned that this conference will become annual and current issues of socio-economic and political development of countries and regions will be discussed here on a regular basis.
