Iran (IP) - Iranian people in various cities rally in response to rioters and in support of the Islamic revolution and its leader.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian people in various cities took to the street to rally against rioters and in support of the Islamic revolution and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

In the latest rallies against the riots and hooligans, the people of Rasht in Gilan Province, north of Iran, chanted against rioters and declared their support and allegiance to the Islamic revolution, Iran Press reported.

The people of the capital city of East Azerbaijan province, Tabriz, also held a rally on Tuesday in support of the Islamic revolution to condemn acts of sabotage and hooliganism by rioters in recent riots and protests which erupted in some Iranian cities after the government rose the price of gasoline by 50%.

The people of Shahrekord in western Iran also demonstrated on Tuesday to express their disgust and condemn the recent actions of rioters. In this regard, also on Monday people in Zanjan in northwestern Iran, took to the streets to condemn violent riots and damage to public property, offices, and shops.

In Ardabil northwest Iran, Khoram Abad and Hamedan west Iran, also people rallied against the rioters to express their support of the Islamic Revolution.

The government decided on Friday to cut gasoline subsidies to fund schemes for direct help to low-income and middle-income families.

On Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker َAli Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ebrahim Raisi convened a session of the Supreme Council of Economic Coordination and agreed that all state bodies should fully cooperate to implement the decision.

Following the decision, some cities in Iran have witnessed largely peaceful protests, but there have been instances of violent behavior by some rioters, such as destruction and burning of some public and private property. Unfortunately, several deaths have also been reported.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has also commented on recent protests in Iran saying: "Certainly some people are worried about the decision to raise the price of petrol, but destroying and burning public property is not done by the people, rather it is the work of saboteurs."
