Iran hikes gas prices, subsidies

Iran introduced gasoline rationing and raised its price and also monthly payments of cash subsidy simultaneously.

Iran Press/ Iran news: According to IRIB, the price of a liter of regular gasoline was increased to 15,000 rials (12.7 US cents) from 10,000 rials and the monthly ration for each car was set at 60 liters. Additional purchases would cost 30,000 rials (about 25 US cents) per litre.

Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, head of the country’s Plan and Budget Organization, told in the TV that incomes from the price hikes would be used to fund additional subsidies for about 60 million needy people.

At the same time, cash subsidy for every person hiked from 450000 (about $ 4 US) rials to 550000 (about $ 5 US). 207
