Isfahan(IP)- A parade of armed forces was held in the Isfahan- central part of the country.

Iran Press/Iran news: A parade of armed forces across Iran was held in Isfahan, the centeral city of the country on Saturday with the presence of different units of the Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guards.

In the event, military equipment such as Iranian-made missiles were  also displayed, reported Iran press.

The similar parade was held across Iran to mark the 39th anniversary of the Sacred Defence Week.

Iran's National Sacred Defense Week that starts in Iran as of Shahrivar 31 (according to the Iranian calendar year)  and falls on September 22, marks invasion of the Iraqi Ba'ath regime on Iran in 1980 when an eight-year imposed war began against Iran by the Iraqi former dictator Saddam Hussein who was later executed on 30 December 2006.

Sacred Defense reminds Iran of people’s resistance and the armed forces’ sacrifices.

Iraq’s eight years of imposed war gave Iran 230,000 martyrs and 600,000 war-disabled while 43,000 Iranians were kept captive by the Iraqi forces and many others have gone missing.
