Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim Zakzaky, has arrived in New Delhi, India where he will be receiving urgent and much-needed medical treatment.

Iran Press/Asia: By accompanying his wife, Zeenat, and other family members, Sheikh Zakzaky arrived in India amid tight security on Tuesday. 

He travelled in company with his wife, Zeenat, and other family members amidst tight security on Monday evening, reported Iran Press.

He will be receiving medical attention in an Indian hospital, according to his lawyer, Femi Falana.

On the same day, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, voiced Iran's support for the urgent medical treatment of the Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

Mousavi wished good health for the Leader of the Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife and said: "Sheikh Zakzaky's presence outside Nigeria, provides a better opportunity for solving the problems of recent years between the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and its government."

Sheikh Zakzaky has been held in detention since December 2015, when the army killed hundreds of his followers at his compound and a nearby mosque and burial ground in northern Kaduna state.
