Bahraini regime executes two young pro-democracy activists

Bahrain has executed two young men who were never given a fair trial, despite a last-minute appeal by UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, Agnès Callamard, to halt the death sentences.

Iran Press/Middle East: Ahmed Issa al-Malali, 24, and Ali Muhammed al-Arab, 25, were executed on Saturday in Jaw prison, south of Manama, the capital city of Bahrain.

Demonstrations were held on Friday night against Al Khalifah regime's decision to execute two Bahraini youths, Iran Press reported.

Concerning the eminent execution of the two youths, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN had urged the Bahraini regime on Friday to stop executing the two pro-democracy activists.

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society wrote in its Twitter account that the regime prevented a funeral ceremony for the two executed young men and did not let their families bury them.

Thousands of anti-regime protesters have held demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in mid-February 2011. 101/211/215
