Groups of university students among other people have gathered in front of Nigeria’s embassy in Tehran to condemn the wrongful incarceration of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).

Iran Press/Iran news: The protesters were carrying pictures of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and some placards with some written slogans in English on Wednesday to express their objection to the wrongful imprisonment of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) by the Nigerian government and it’s authorities.

The demonstrators chanted slogans, requesting the United Nations’ authorities to break their silence regarding the barbaric behavior done to Sheikh Zakzaky, Iran Press reported.

Sheikh Zakzaky, now in his mid-sixties, has been held in detention since December 2015 and was charged just in April 2018 with unlawful assembly and disruption of the public peace, allegations that rejected by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

In 2016, Nigeria’s federal high court ordered his unconditional release from jail following a trial, but the government has so far refused to set him free.
