Iran’s Assembly of Experts Thanks IRGC for Downing US Spy Drone

Iran's Assembly of Experts appreciated IRGC for taking down US Spy Drone and stressed that this was a reminder of the power of Iranian military forces which were ready to defend the nation and Iran's borders.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran’s Assembly of Experts expressed its gratitude to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) for shooting down an advanced US spy drone over Iranian territorial waters in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the move as a small example of the Islamic Republic’s defensive power; Iran Press reported, quoting Tasnim news agency.

“The downing of the American ultra-advanced spy drone by the powerful hands of the IRGC, showed a small fraction of the Iranian Armed Forces’ power and advancement in the air defence industry,” the Assembly of Experts said in a statement on Saturday, adding that “It is also a fiasco and memorable lesson for criminal America and upset their military and technical equations.”

The Assembly of Experts also expressed its gratitude for “the honourable move” by the IRGC Aerospace Force, went on in its statement that “Undoubtedly, the Islamic Republic of Iran, with this legitimate defence of its geographical borders, actually used its legal rights as a fundamental principle; therefore, following up on this issue legally in international organizations and (pushing for) the US government to be held accountable for this aggression, is the legal right of the Islamic Republic Iran’s government."

The IRGC had announced in a statement early Thursday that the US-made Global Hawk surveillance drone was brought down by its Air Force near Kouh-e Mobarak region in the southern district of Jask after the aircraft violated Iran's airspace.

The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a second statement on Thursday disclosing details about the shooting down of the US spy drone near the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that the unmanned aircraft was targeted after violating Iran's airspace over the Southern coasts; While Washington claims that its aircraft was shot down above international waters.

In a letter to the United Nation, Iran complained against the violation of its airspace and territory by US surveillance drone. 101/212/211
