Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of political affairs, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi

Iran's deputy foreign minister in charge of political affairs, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, in a meeting with the special representative of Singapore's foreign minister in Tehran on Tuesday, has emphasised that America's economic sanctions against Iran are targeting the security of the entire Middle East region.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with Zein al-Abedin Rashid, the special representative of Singapore's foreign minister on Tuesday, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi briefed the Singaporean official about the latest developments with regards to the Iran nuclear deal and Iran's actions to save the landmark multilateral nuclear accord.

Araghchi added: "The Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) is a rare example of a Middle Eastern issue being solved through talks and negotiations, but the United States unilaterally, illegally and illogically withdraw from this multilateral nuclear accord, for reasons best known to the Americans themselves, casting a cloud of uncertainty over the accord.

Araghchi pointedly added: "The Americans are now waging an economic war against Iran, and this has resulted in an escalation of tensions in the region."

The deputy foreign minister poignantly added: "America's economic sanctions against Iran are targeting the security of the entire Middle East. Thus, without a ceasefire in this economic war, it is unrealistic to expect calm and security in this region."

For his part, Zein al-Abedin Rashid, the special representative of Singapore's foreign minister, expressed hope that tensions will subside in the region, and assured his host that Singapore fully supports the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA).
