Italian lawmaker calls for fast implementation of agreements with Iran

A senior Italian lawmaker has called for previous agreements signed by Iran and Italy to be implemented as soon as possible.

Iran Press/Iran news: "The Italian Senate is keen to improve cooperation with the Iranian parliament", said President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate, Vito Rosario Petrocelli.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Isfahan Governor General Abbas Rezaei, IRNA reported. 

The Italian official called for the implementation of signed agreements between Iran and Italy, including a sister city agreement between Isfahan and Florence.

Isfahan and Florence sisterhood agreement was signed during former Italian foreign minister Lamberto Dini's visit to the region in February 2000.

In the meantime, Isfahan governor, for his part, called for the formation of joint chambers of commerce with Italian cities, including Rome and Milan chambers.

He referred to similarities between Iran and Italy, and urged improvement of ties between Tehran and Rome. 104/211/208
