Iran Press/ Iran news: Today is Thursday, July 27, 2023, and the 9th day of the Muharram month in 1445 AH, also known as the Tasu'a occasion.
Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his loyal companions were martyred in the Karbala desert on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH, October 10, 680.
"The intention is to disgrace the anti-Islamic government and establish the command of what is good and forbid what is bad and stand against oppression and tyranny," Imam Hussain (A.S.) said in the Karbala battle.
Iranian mourners commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (A.S.), The third Shi'a Imam, and his loyal companions, including Hazrat Abbas (A.S.), the brother of Imam Hussain, by holding mourning ceremonies on the days of Tasua and Ashura, ninth and tenth of Muharram month.
Imam Sajjad (A.S.), the fourth Imam of Shi'a, described the position of Hazrat Abbas (A.S.), saying: "Hazrat Abbas (A.S.), indeed, sacrificed his life for his brother, Imam Hussain (A.S.), until his hands were cut off."
The significance of the event has not diminished despite centuries passing since the battle of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his loyal companions. In fact, with the passage of time, the message of Ashura has become more widespread, and mourning ceremonies are held with tremendous passion.
The teachings of Imam Hussain's (A.S.) movement have spread across nations throughout history and cannot be limited.
During the Muharram month, particularly on Tasua and Ashura, the devoted people of Iran and Ahl Al-Bayt enthusiasts demonstrate their grief by visiting shrines, mosques, and holy sites such as the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shiite Imam located in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, and the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS), the sister of Imam Reza (AS) located in Qom province, south of Tehran, Iran.
Iran Press News Agency offers condolences to all Muslims, especially Shi'as and other freedom seekers of the world, on Tasua occasion.
