Iran Press/ Asia: Speaking on the occasion of the New Year, Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that "no one can sever the blood connection between the people of China on both sides of the Taiwan Strait," underscoring the nation’s unwavering stance on the Taiwan issue.
Xi's remarks come just weeks before Taiwan's leadership election, heightening the significance of his words. While the president refrained from mentioning military threats, his statement was seen as a more assertive stance compared to his previous address. Last year, Xi had only expressed hopes for cooperation between the two sides, describing the people of both Taiwan and mainland China as "one family."
In addition to the Taiwan issue, Xi's speech also highlighted China’s economic agenda for the coming year. The president vowed to strengthen the nation’s economic recovery, pledging to deepen reforms and further open up the economy to ensure long-term growth. He called for increased efforts in education, scientific advancements, and talent development.
Xi acknowledged the difficulties faced by many businesses and individuals, particularly in the areas of employment and daily living conditions, as well as the impact of natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.
