Sudan (IP)- The war in Sudan, which erupted in April 2023 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum, has resulted in devastating human and economic consequences.

Iran Press/Africa:  The conflict has led to widespread destruction of infrastructure and disrupted production processes, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced under dire conditions. Recent statistics from international organizations indicate that approximately 15 million Sudanese have fled the country, while over 11.5 million have been displaced within various states.

The war has severely impacted Sudan's health and economic sectors, with reports suggesting that nearly all factories in the country have ceased operations. The conflict has affected 85 percent of government revenues, resulting in an estimated loss of $200 billion, including $11 billion related to health and medical services.
International organizations are warning that the continuation of hostilities could precipitate a humanitarian catastrophe. Experts believe that foreign support for the Rapid Support Forces may be part of a broader strategy to fragment Sudan in favor of geopolitical interests, particularly those aligned with Israel.

The ongoing violence has exacerbated existing vulnerabilities within Sudan, leading to extreme shortages of food, water, medicine, and fuel. The humanitarian situation is dire, with half of the population—approximately 25 million people—requiring urgent assistance. Nearly 18 million individuals face acute food insecurity, with 5 million experiencing emergency levels of hunger.

As the conflict persists, the international community is urged to respond swiftly to avert further deterioration and address the urgent needs of those affected by this catastrophic war.
